Thin, super-sensitive fly line designed for Euro nymphing. The line is deliberately made short (20 feet) so it can be added to the front end of a regular fly line utilizing the thin welded loop on each end.

The idea is that anglers can fish their normal fly fishing style with their regular trout line, and when they come to a run they want to fish Euro nymph style, they simply loop the Shorty on and start nymphing.

SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR ANGLERS FISHING IN TROPICAL HEAT

RIO’s JUNGLE SERIES of fly lines are designed to withstand the heat of tropical and jungle destinations. Each line is built on RIO’s low-memory DirectCore that is extremely easy to anneal (stretch) and lies perfectly straight on the water, yet retains the stiffness needed to cast in hot conditions. Each line has a short, quick loading head that will easily cast and turnover typical large flies, and a range of density options ensures anglers are covered for all species, conditions and waters.

The F/I has a floating running line, with a 30ft intermediate head, of which the front 10ft is clear. The F/S3 is a floating line with the front 20ft of type 3 sinking (3-4" ips). The F/S6 is a floating line with the front 20ft of type 6 sinking (6-7" ips)

For two years the line designers and technical engineers at RIO worked on the ultimate long distance casting line. The end result is the RIO Gold Tournament line - a line that is built for casting huge distances and for competing in the #5 casting competitions around the world.

The line conforms to AFTMA and competition specifications and is deemed legal for standard WF5 floating line distance competitions. It features a long head of 75 ft with a graduated rear body taper that gives the line longer flight times and more distance than any other line out there. The ultra thin running line (0.024" diameter) produces virtually no drag.

The XPS Triangle Taper is a continuous forward taper in the head of the line.

This provides the most efficient transfer of casting energy as it unrolls, because the heavier line is constantly turning over lighter line.

This design also gives you a more delicate presentation because the weight is away from th fly.

The combination of a long weighted section and a light running line make the Triangle Taper cast like a shooting head for distance.
